Bring on 2021
Well we did it. Somehow 2020 has ended and we are starting 2021. While not much was going to change overnight, I know that many of us have high hopes that this year will be better than the last. So much happened last year. SO MUCH. Not all bad, but not all good either. I mean let’s be honest…Pandemic, Murder Hornets, Home Schooling, Fires etc….The worst game of Jumanji ever played. I am not sad the year ended. It was a good riddance and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
That does not mean there were not good things. Life slowed down. We no longer spent half our lives in cars commuting (both school and work is a commute for us). We grew a farm. Literally. We now have 4 goats, 8 chickens, a puppy and of course our kitty. We really focused on what was important and did our best to make use of the gift of time we were given.
Things are definitely going to be different going forward once this madness ends (someday right?). I hate the phrase “the new normal” (or “social distancing” for that matter) and if I never hear it again, it would be too soon. This is not a new normal. It’s just different. You look at your life and choices differently and decide how you want them to look.
Each year, I try to come up with a word of the year and I know many others do as well. This year, I was sitting in my chair in our home library enjoying a cup of coffee and it hit me. Tenacity. It just fit and seemed perfect. I am not even sure why it came to mind but when it did I knew it was my word for 2021.
Are you someone who has a Word of the Year? I would love to hear what yours is?
Cheers to 2021 my friends. More coming from me soon!
