Date Box
In my new About Me section, I mentioned Balance. This has been a really tough thing for me and Im sure it is tough for many others. Having so many roles and trying to balance everything is a struggle. In the end I find that important areas get pushed aside when they shouldn't. Im a wife, a mother, business owner, employee. Kids demand so much of both your time and energy in the end myself and my spouse are neglected. We are tired at night and dont want to spend a ton of money for a babysitter so we can have a date night. Part of its money and part of it is the effort to plan an evening out. It makes me exhausted just thinking about it. It really should not be this hard right?
So, instead of being frustrated (well...less frustrated I should say) Ive been trying to find solutions to help in the areas that are lacking or getting ignored. Small things but it is still a step in the right direction and a step towards finding the balance that I really need.
That brings us to Date Box. I honestly can not remember where I first saw mention of it but I stalked instagram and their website for quite awhile before I took the plunge. I knew that I wanted to make sure time got set aside for just Dan and I. But I needed it to not be complicated. And an evening watching trash TV is not what I had in mind. Date Box sends you a box each month with a date that is completely planned out for you and can be enjoyed at home. Each box has a theme to it and sometimes will have a shopping list that you may need to get (Such as food items). I originally signed up for a three month subscription to see how we liked it. We loved them so much I renewed for 6 more months. And yes, Even Dan enjoys them.
I love that it forces us to take the time for each other. Even if its one night, its an important thing for us to do. The boxes are about $30.00 a month. An evening out would cost just 4 times that amount. Here is some sample boxes we have received so far.
We LOVED this one. It was an Escape room challenge. And Carmel apples and homemade popcorn! DELISH!
Next we had a make your own Sushi! As you can see this one required a little shopping but not too much.
This month we made clay pots for a little mini herb garden.
The last box was a spa night (HEAVEN)!
I look forward to each and every box. There is a little packet that comes with it with instructions and also conversation starters. We don't always use those, its really just time that we make a point of setting aside just for us. If you want to give it a try...I highly recommend it. Click HERE to use my link and it will give you $10.00 off your first box. If you do give it a try I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do and that it gives you dedicated time to spend with your spouse!
